CPE Supervisory Training

CPE Training

Welcome to the CPE Supervisory Training Program, a collaborative venture between FISH and TURTLE designed specifically for the accomplished chaplain. We recognize your dedication, your exceptional practice in the chaplain field, and your commitment to enhancing your supervisory skills. This program was born out of our understanding of the ever-evolving dynamics within healthcare settings and the increasing need for more skilled chaplain supervisors. We aim to provide an enriching training experience that not only augments your chaplain skills but also focuses on your development in a leadership role. Our ultimate goal is to help you become an accomplished supervisor, capable of providing transformative education in the field of Chaplain Professional Education.

CPE Supervisory Participation

Our Supervisory Training Program is deeply entrenched in real-life clinical experiences and hands-on learning. The program requires trainees to devote approximately 18 hours each week to direct chaplain care, offering guidance and support to patients, their families, and the hospital staff in a holistic manner. The trainees are expected to immerse themselves in the rhythms and realities of a functioning healthcare setting, integrating their theological understandings with the psychosocial dimensions of patient care. In addition, trainees are expected to devote to planned educational activities, which include seminars, group processes, and individual supervision. These activities serve to consolidate their clinical experiences, refine their chaplain identity, and broaden their understanding of human behavior and interpersonal dynamics. A critical element of our program is the requirement for supervisory trainees to ensure an environment conducive to learning and development. This necessitates thoughtful and intentional planning, self-reflection, and a commitment to feedback and growth.

CPE Objectives

Our primary objective in the CPE Supervisory Training Program is to shape trainees into adept supervisors within the sphere of Chaplain Professional Education. We strive to facilitate a journey of learning that encourages trainees to deepen their self-awareness, nurture their chaplain identity, and develop their professional competencies. The program aims to guide trainees in fostering a nurturing environment for future CPE trainees, promoting a culture of openness, respect, and learning. We seek to empower our future supervisors spiritual growth in their training and facilitate their professional development, ultimately contributing to the improvement of spiritual care provided in healthcare settings.
